Speaker biographies:
Dr Chris Watkin
Dr Chris Watkin is a Director of Studies in French at Murray Edwards College (New Hall). He specializes in twentieth-century and contemporary French literature and philosophy and has recently published Phenomenology or Deconstruction? (Edinburgh University Press, 2008). He and his wife Alison attend Christ Church, Cambridge.
Jim Paul
Jim Paul worked as a doctor in palliative medicine but now works at English L’Abri, a community of believers and enquirers in Hampshire which seeks to combine loving hospitality with pursuing the intellectual aspects of Christian faith. He and his South African wife, Merran have have two children, Jack and Sam.
Revd Dr Alistair Donald
Currently the chaplain of Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Dr Donald studied Geography at St Andrews University, gained a doctorate in Environmental Science from the University of Wales and a divinity degree in New Testament from Edinburgh University. He has worked in both Wales and Scotland as an environmental scientist, with involvement in the areas of water pollution and acid rain research.
Dr Dirk Jongkind
Dr Dirk Jongkind is a Dutch biblical scholar who finished his PhD at Cambridge University on Codex Sinaiticus, the oldest complete copy of the New Testament and has carried out significant work on the legal language used in and outside the New Testament. Currently he is the Research Fellow in New Testament Text and Language at Tyndale House and the John W. Laing Fellow at St Edmund’s College, Cambridge. He is married to Marion, with six children.
Peter Sanlon
Peter holds degrees in theology from Oxford and Cambridge Universities. He is currently writing a doctoral thesis on Augustine's expository preaching and training to become a vicar. He is editor of the website www.stilldeeper.com which encourages readers to look at culture, walk as disciples and think ideas. He and his wife Susanna have just had their first child, Lewis.
